Hannah was rescued from a puppy mill in LA by a lady with another breed rescue and sent to MBTR. She
was kept as a breeding dog and came to rescue with two puppies who were very sick with coccidia. The
breeder had not treated Hannah's pups and only three of a litter of eight remained. They were treated
and adopted. Hannah was thin with a dull, unkempt coat but it didn't take her long to start thriving. As
you can see by the above photos, she turned into a beautiful young lady! She has an absolutely
adorable face that no one can resist, a precious personality, and the most beautiful, sky-blue eyes we've
ever seen! She was adopted by a wonderful couple in Madison, MS who spoil her rotten. She lives the
life of a princess now and her puppy mill days are just a distant memory! Her new name is "Anabelle"
and she shares her home with two pretty canine sisters.

Beth and Bridgette (now Abby), was rescued from a puppy mill in LA by another breed rescue and then
sent to MBTR along with the mother, Hannah (above). They were dirty, thin, and sick when they were
taken from the puppy mill. These two girls and one other sister were the only three remaining pups of a
littler of eight. They had contracted a coccidia infection which had remained untreated by the breeder
and 5 of these girls' siblings feel victim to the owners negligence in providing them with medication. In
rescue, the girls quickly began to recover with good vet care and TLC. They got well and gained weight
and turned into beautiful pups. Both were adopted by a couple who had previously owned two Boston
sisters from puppy hood until their deaths. These two girls were adopted and are now spoiled and
loved. Their past life if just a memory now. They will spend their lives together and with a family that
loves them! What lucky girls!
Buster was a stray. He followed a lady's own Boston Terrier home
and into the garage. He had obviously been on his own for a while
without many handouts. He was extremely thin but seemed in
otherwise good condition. She surrendered him to her vet's office
where he was neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped then
released to MBTR to help him recover and find a home. Buster
quickly bloomed while in foster care. He loved to eat and it didn't
take long before he was slick and fat! His coat became shiny and
healthy. Buster was a loving little guy but didn't really like other
dogs being around and stealing his limelight. He was lucky enough
to find a home with a young adult where he could be an only dog.
That's just what Buster wanted!

R.J. came to us on Good Friday from a town in LA near Shreveport.
He was a cherished pet and well taken care of. However, R.J.
developed bladder stones and needed surgery. His owner, who
had unfortunately recently lost her job, spent her savings to get
him the operation he needed. A few short weeks later, an x-ray
showed that R.J. still had stones. They could not reform that
quickly so it's obvious that the vet missed some of the stones. But
she was going to charge R.J.'s owner for another surgery which
she just could not again pay for. So she made the decision to
surrender R.J. to rescue. We took him to the vet where he had a
successful operation and he recovered perfectly. He was closely
monitored for approximately 6 months and never had further
problems. He was then adopted to a wonderful family who loved
his silly antics and were aware of the need for him to have
bi-annual checkups to make sure the stones did not reform. A
happy ending for a very special little Boston Terrier!

Monet (now "Rosie") was born a couple of weeks after her mother was rescued from a backyard
breeding facility. Her mom was not in the best of health and had a terrible uterine infection which the
breeder had not bothered to treat. As a result, Monet's mom had to undergo a scheduled c-section
and two of her siblings were lost. Monet was the sole survivor and weak. However, with excellent
care given to her by her mom, she quickly blossomed into a lovely, lovely little pup. She was a special
little girl because we don't often get tiny pups into rescue. She was adopted by a very loving family
who treats her like a princess. The two photos on the right show and older Monet relaxing with her
family...what a tough life! The photo on the far right shows Monet with her little sister. Aren't they
both just as cute as bugs! We're are very happy that Monet doesn't have to grow up in the same
miserable conditions her mother was rescued from. We know she'll have a happy and pampered life!

Pumpkin (now Cheese) was rescued from a puppy mill that was going out of business. When she
arrived she had a fungal infection on her nose and ears from unsanitary conditions he was kept in.
She was also weak, thin, and heartworm positive. Areas had rubbed raw on her backside and down the
back of her legs from sitting on a bare wire cage with nothing to lie on. She also had an old fracture to
her leg and pelvis. The pelvis had healed O.K. but the leg needed to be reset. The vet said her pelvis
was probably fractured while delivering puppies since she was such a small girl. The leg required 3
seperate surgeries to get it all fixed up. Then Pumpkin went through heartworm treatments which
lasted several months. During that time she also put on weight, took her vitamins and was soon
restored to a healthy state. She went up for adoption and a very nice young couple from Hattiesburg,
MS applied to adopt her. As you can see, she is now a well loved pampered pet. She dressed as a
turtle for Halloween, has toys, and sweaters to wear when it's cold. And best of all is she has an
awesome family to love her!

"Trooper"
Pearl, Mississippi
"Trooper" came to MBTR from a puppy mill in LA. He had a very nasty case of demodex mange and had hardly any hair left on his little body. This little guy's condition had been left untreated by his owner and his skin was in a terrible mess! Mange is very "itchy" and in an attempt to get some relief, little Trooper had scratched himself until his skin was raw, infected, and bloody. He had also scratched at his face until he had accidentally scratched his own eye and had painful abrasions that required immediate treatment in order to save his eye. With TLC and medications to treat his mange, skin infections, and eye abrasions, Trooper gradually healed and turned into an adorable little love bug of a Boston. Trooper has a precious personality and quickly gained the attention of a wonderful, loving family that offered him a nurturing, forever home. Trooper is now living a happy life with his new family and two adorable Boston siblings. He's a lucky, lucky boy!

"Rocky"
El Dorado, Arkansas
Before:

"Rocky" came to us from a back yard breeder that was downsizing. He was a stud dog that, in spite of some extent of neglect, he was a very handsome dog. Despite his good looks, Rocky should have never been used as a breeding dog because he was deaf and shouldn't have been passing that trait along to offspring. Back yard breeders, or the people who buy pups from them, never really consider these things though. It's all about money for the breeder and a pup for the person who buys it from the back of a car in a parking lot. Poor Rocky was a bit thin, and his nose and ears were covered with a flaky, scaly, itchy fungus. Poor guy had hardly any hair left in his ears. This was a result of the filthy conditions this poor boy was forced to live in. However, three weeks of anti-fungal medications added to his food cleared the problem up. With proper nutrition and vitamins, Rocky quickly gained weight and his coat turned glossy black and this boy went from a good looking boy to a drop dead gorgeous Boston!! The breeder had used Rocky as a breeding dog for three years and had no idea he was even deaf. How sad!! This quickly became evident while in foster care and MBTR began looking for a home that could work with Rocky and understand his special needs. An absolutely wonderful, dog-savvy couple from Arkansas adopted Rocky. They had a previous dog that had hearing difficulty and were experienced in this area of dog care. As you can see from the photos above of Rocky relaxing in his new home, he has thrived under their care! Rocky is without a doubt one of the most handsome dogs that has come into MBTR's care and we are so glad to see him out of that breeding facility and into a home where he will be loved and treated like the prince he is. Besides having great parents, he also shares his home with his two beautiful canine lady friends...another Boston lady named "Posh" and a lovely little Poodle girl named "Penny". We're sure Rocky now thinks "Life is good!!" and his puppy mill days and just a distant, unpleasant memory.

Rescues & Adoptions
Posh was an owner surrender. She came to MBTR well cared for and beautiful but her owner had to move and could not take
Posh with her. Posh's owner's mother looked after her for a while but when she became engaged, she was also planning a move
and didn't have time to spend with the Posh that she knew she both needed and deserved. Rather than send to a shelter, she
asked Rescue to find a new home for pretty Posh. And what a gorgeous Boston she is!! She has the prettiest face and the most
gorgeous brindle coat you've ever seen! And this sweet girl was as beautiful on the inside as on the out....such a sweet, gentle
personality. She was very fortunate to be adopted, along with her friend "Rocky", by a very kind, dog loving couple from
Arkansas. Doesn't Posh look happy as a clam sunning by the door with "Rocky" on a lazy Sunday afternoon in her new home?
Wonderful parents to love her, a home to call her own, and a Boston brother and Poodle sister to play with....what else could a
little Boston girl ever want?!

"Frankie" is unquestionably one of the most adorable little guys we've seen and anyone who met him fell in love with him! This boy acquired quite a fan club while he was with MBTR. He was found in D'Iberville, MS by a Veterinarian in the parking lot of her office. She took him in and ran ads and called other vets offices in the area but after several weeks of boarding him, no one had claimed Frankie. He was such a sweet guy they didn't want to send him to a shelter so she contacted MBTR to help the little guy find a home. The vet vaccinated him and did a heartworm test which showed a strong positive. Frankie must have been on his own for some time to have developed heartworms or was either kept as an outside dog and never given a monthly preventative. MBTR cared for Frankie while he underwent Heartworm tx's and it was decided that the "slow method" should be used with Frankie since he had such a strong positive to his antigen test. After six months which consisted of oral pre-treatment medications, then injectable treatments followed by weeks of recovery time, Frankie successfully completed his treatments. He was then neutered and readied for adoption. Frankie was adopted by a very nice couple from Kenner, LA who are obvious dog lovers! Frankie now has two handsome brothers, "Bull" the English Bulldog, and "Buster" the Boston Terrier to play with and get into mischeif with! Frankie now has a loving forever home and he'll never again have to wander the streets alone or have to worry about contracting heartworms because his owner was negligent in providing his monthly preventative. Frankie is very grateful to the kind vet who helped him out in his time of need and to the awesome family who offered him the safety and security of a nurturing forever home!

"Mallie" is a cute little Boston Terrier/Pug mix who was surrendered by her
owners to a shelter who in turn called MBTR to help find Mallie a home. Her
owner claimed that his father insisted that he could not keep Mallie and since he
lived on his property, he was obliged to comply. Mallie was surrendered as a
young pup of only 9 months of age. What a cute little 'BUG' (half Boston/half Pug)
she was! So playful and happy! We got her caught up on her vaccinations,
spayed and ready to adopt. A very nice lady applied to adopt Mallie as a playmate
for her son. They had just bought a new home with a big, roomy, fenced yard
where Mallie could enjoy running and romping around. She had just adopted a
small breed dog from a local shelter but he was more interested in being a lap
dog than running and playing with her young son. Mallie, being just a silly kid
herself, was definitely up to the job! She hit it off just fine with the family and
found herself a wonderful new home that suited her perfectly. Oh, and that little
shy lap dog really came out of his shell when a playmate was adopted. They had
quite a time running around the yard and playing. So seems Mallie was lucky to
have found a new mom to love her, a new young human playmate to run and
wrestle with and a doggie friend to frolic with as well. Now she has all any little
"BUG" could ever want!

One cute New Orleans
Saints fan!!
Tadpole & big brother, "Thor"
"Tadpole" was rescued from a puppy mill. He came to MBTR thin, dull, flaky coat, ear mite infestation, and a nasty, crusty fungal infection growing on his nose and ears. His little ears were crusty and hairless. At only two years of age, Tadpole had already been used as a breeding dog and it seems that not much else was expected of him. He obviously had never received any human attention because he was very WILD when he first arrived into rescue. It would take several people to corner him in the yard just to catch him. He had been living in absolutely filthy conditions and smelled horrible. The fungal infection was also caused by the poor conditions he was kept in. We took Tadpole to the vet and got him caught up on his vaccinations as well as medications to treat his ear mites and fungal infection. After several weeks of medications and good, nutritious food, Tadpole started to look like a completely different dog! His face and ears cleared up, he gained weight, and his coat turn glossy and slick. Who knew this little guy would turn into such a looker!! Tadpole worked hard on his socialization skills and learned how to walk on a leash. He was then neutered and started looking for his forever home which he found in Kenner, LA. A very special couple adopted Tadpole and continued to patiently work with him to improve his social skills and to get over his fears. His too cute big brother, "Thor", was also instrumental in helping bring Tadpole out of his shell and turning his little life around. Now just look at those photos above. He went from a dirty, sick, thin little captive in a breeding facility where he was forced to live in horrid conditions to a spoiled rotten pup who gets to sleep in the bed with his Mom, Dad, and doggie brother every night! The breeder said that he was always kept in a concrete kennel and was not allowed out into the yard. How sad! His new mom says that now he loves to go out in his fenced back yard and just run and run just because he can! This boy has seen the rotten side of life and how cruel and self-centered people can be. He was lucky to get out at a young age and thanks to his wonderful family has nothing but good things to look forward to in life. He's loved and pampered and rooting for his "New Orleans Saints" to go to the Super Bowl!! Look at that adorable jersey!

Halloween at
Cas' New Home
Casanova, better known as "Cas", was an owner surrender. The owner moved, could not take Cas, had not been able to find him a new home and she didn't want to send him to a shelter. He had been a well cared for pet and arrived in a healthy condition. Cas was still intact so we had him neutered and then began looking for him a new home. Although very well cared for by his previous owner, Cas now wanted a home where he knew he would stay for the rest of his life and that's just what he got when a wonderful couple applied to adopt him. They had two Boston boys and had recently lost one to sickness/age. They wanted another Boston to complete their family as well as a companion for their other Boston and wished to give a loving home to a dog that needed one. Cas' new mom, grandmother and Boston brother, "Pepper", drove down from Hernando to pick him up and he moved into his new home the day before Halloween. He had a great time dressing up like a Bumble Bee for Halloween and Trick-or-Treating. Cas' favorite thing in the world was eating. That boy loved his groceries!! As a result he was packing a few extra pounds. With a new brother to play with, he's getting more exercise now and is a happier, healthier Cas. Cas was fortunate to get a great family and these were some of the nicest people we've met who obviously care very much for their pets. Congratulations Cas on finding your forever home!!

Jasmine was rescued from a backyard breeding facility that was going out of business. She was meant to be a breeder dog but
because of her young age and youthful figure when relinquished, the vet said that he didn't believe that she had ever had pups.
He estimated her to be approximately 2 years old. While Jasmine did have a fungal infection on her ears and nose and an ear
mite infestation from the deplorable conditions the breeder kept her in, those issues where easily resolved and she was soon
diagnosed to be in good health. Jasmine was then spayed and was ready to find a forever home. Although sweet and gentle, it
appears that she had never been petted or given any type of attention or socialization while at the breeding facility. She was very
skittish and wild. With a little time, she got the basic idea of walking on a leash and would come up to people and get treats. She
loved having her own comfortable crate to sleep in at night and would go in it on command. An extra special family from
Pensacola applied to adopt Jasmine and was willing to continue working with her on her socialization skills. All members of the
family have been extremely patient and loving towards Jas. They take her places and let her experience new things. She is
much less shy now and enjoys being with her family and learned house training quickly. Jasmine has moved with her family
into their new home and even has a Boston friend who lives nearby and that she loves to play with. We don't see many pups as
shy and skittish as Jasmine. She was an extra tough case. How lucky she was to have found a family that was willing to be
patient and give her love and guidance as she learns what life as a cherished house pet is all about. Wish we had nurturing,
dedicated families like this for all our rescues!

"Precious Minnie" was found wandering down a highway in Louisiana. A good Samaritan picked her up and transported her to
Rescue. She was extremely emaciated, flea infested, had multiple abscessed teeth and heartworm positive when she arrived.
She was also suffering from bilateral luxating patellas that had never been corrected. No one knows where Minnie came from
or how she wound up in such a deplorable condition. It appears that she had been used for breeding so it's possible that she
was turned out of a puppy mill once she was used up. The vet said that surgery may or may not help her luxating patellas and
recommended she not have surgery as she had adapted quite well and got around and could even run! He guessed this was a
condition she had been born with. We gave Minnie a good bath, had her spayed, put her on antibiotics to settle down the
infection in her mouth and then had those abscessed teeth pulled. She went through heartworm treatments and then with her
improved health, painful teeth removed, and with the provisions of good nutrition and vitamins, Minnie soon turned into a plump,
sleek cutie pie! Just look at that face....is she precious or what! It's almost inconceivable that someone could mistreat her.
Almost everyone who saw her commented on how exceptionally adorable she was. Once back in good health, Minnie quickly
found her forever home after receiving several applications to adopt her. Two compassionate, kind-hearted gentleman
welcomed her into their home and was happy to have this little doll as their new lap pup....and that's something she quite enjoys.
She even has a Boston brother now to keep her company. Minnie may have had it rough for the first three years of her life but
things have definitely changed for her now. She's proud to have her very own family now that will love and adore her and no
doubt pamper her and provide her with a wonderful life!

Wiley was rescued from a shelter by a good Samaritan after he ended up there when he was abandoned by his owner. Wiley
was was thin and had a heavy parasite infestation. With some TLC, medications, and good nutrition, Wiley blossomed into a very
handsome young pup! At only one year of age, this exceptionally good-looking boy began looking for his forever home. A young
professional from Ocean Springs had just bought a new home and wanted a four-legged companion to share it with and she
thought Wiley fit the bill. His new home has a large fenced yard and what more could a playful young pup want than plenty of
room to run, romp, and play? He moved in and took right up with his new Mom! It hard to imagine that anyone would abandon
such an adorable little Boston. But Wiley was lucky to have a guradian angel rescue him from the shelter and contact MBTR to
help him find a new home. He was even more lucky when his new Mom decided to do a very kind deed and offer a second
chance to a rescued dog and welcomed him into his new forever home. We have no doubt that he will have a long, happy life.
Enjoy Christmas in your new home, boy!

Even though "Jack" is one good-looking, type-y Boston that any Boston Terrier aficionado would be
proud to own, he found himself, for a while, on a rough and rocky road bouncing from shelter to home to
home... We don't know how he came to the shelter, but his owner reported that a friend of hers
"adopted" Frank from a shelter, decided she didn't want him and "gave" him to her even though she
wasn't really looking for a dog. Jack had some eye issues surface and had to see a specialist in
Birmingham, AL. His owner went to much trouble and expense to make sure that Jack had what he
needed. Once his eye issue was resolved, she attempted to find him a home one her own. Twice she
gave him to someone who only returned him a short time later with a sad excuse as to why they couldn't
keep him. She worked out of the home and Jack spent much of his day alone. When his owner
accepted a job out of state, she was unable to take Jack with her and contacted MBTR to find him a
home because she refused to send him back to the shelter and let him remain on the 'merry-go-round'
he was on. We gladly took handsome Jack into Rescue. He was bit of a troubled boy when he arrived.
Understandably stand-offish and not very trusting. He was withdrawn and didn't want to have much to
do with people or other dogs. But with approx. 6 months of TLC, reconditioning, and reassuring, Jack
came around and turned into a normal, affectionate, outgoing Boston. Then a family from LA applied to
adopt Jack. They already had one Boston and wanted to add another to the family. This turned out to be
just what Jack wanted. He LOVES the kids, and his mom had experience as a foster mom and his new
Boston brother, "Sam", is also and adopted dog from a puppy mill bust. Now Jack has a new confidence,
a new zest for life, and a new family that understands his troubled past and promises to love him and
make sure he never again "bounces around in the system". Some of his human brothers and sisters
are also adopted....this exceptional family absolutely believes that no life, animal or human, is
disposable nor worth giving up on. The world could use more folks like them.....
