Rescues & Adoptions
Each of our Rescued Bostons are special to us and each one takes a little piece of our hearts with them to their forever homes. When kind people like these offer a Boston a loving, nurturing home it is very exciting and rewarding. These happy endings should be shared and celebrated! This page is a tribute to the Bostons who have come to MBTR and the wonderful people who made a "happy ending" possible for them. Sometimes as overworked volunteers, we forget our cameras but we'd love to have photos of all our adoptees and their new families. If you have a photo you'd like added to the Happy Tails page, please e-mail it to us and we'll be happy to add it!

Bentley was surrendered to a shelter by his owners because "he was getting old". The shelter felt that they could not
adopt a senior dog and asked if we could take Bentley. We happily accepted this 10 year old gentleman and he was
transported up to us by the Gulfcoast SPCA. It was soon evident why Bentley's owners had surrendered him. Although
house trained, he was having tee-tee accidents on the floor. He would try to make it outside but didn't always quite get
there. Being the gentleman that he is, we could see that this greatly distressed Bentley although we never chastised
him for it. We knew he could not help it and he was trying so hard. When our vet examined Bentley, he found that he
had a bladder stone about the size of a marble which was causing him trouble. He was scheduled for surgery, the stone
removed, and three short weeks post-op Bentley is a new man! He also had a thorough teeth cleaning procedure which
made him feel much better and those teeth look young and white again. When the vet examined him initially, she said
that his heart didn't even sound like a 10 year old dog....and after his stone was removed, Bentley doesn't act like a 10
y/o dog! Quiet and perfectly well-mannered in the house...you'd forget he was even around. But watch him shed about
9 years when you get that squeaky toy out! He LOVES to play fetch. While there's no such thing as a "perfect dog",
Bentley is pretty dog-gone close!! Coming to us shortly before Christmas, Bentley was able to sit in Santa's lap and tell
him that all he wanted for Christmas was a loyal, forever family that would love him and he could love back. Old St.
Nick must have whispered this into the ears of an absolutely wonderful, kind hearted couple from Denham Springs, LA.
because they, undaunted by a few gray hairs around his muzzle, applied to adopt Bentley. It is indeed special, selfless
people who offer an older dog a loving home to spend his golden years in. Bentley will begin the New Year with a
renewed health and a wonderful new home and family. Christmas wishes really do come true!!

That's an awesome looking pack of gorgeous Boston

Rose was picked up as a stray in Ashland, AL
and taken to a local vet's office. When her
owner could not be located, she came to MBTR
so she could find a new one. She's one little
enthuastic little gal and there's no doubt at all
about when she's happy because she wags her
whole back end!! This adorable little
"wiggle-butt" is a loving little soul with lots of
energy who likes to run and play. She was
fortunate to get just the home she needed when
a family from Zachary, LA applied to adopt her.
They offered her a great home with a big back
yard where she could run to her hearts desire.
She now has a cutie-pie Boston brother named
"Noah" who is even more energetic than she is.
Maybe these two can play enough to wear
each other's energy out and their very patient
family can have some peaceful evenings :o)
After being found wondering the streets of a small town in Louisiana, Teddy
faced a long road to recovery. He was thin and his foster mom quickly realized
that Teddy had a broken jaw. We don't know how he sustained the
injury...probably struck by a car because he did have some signs of road rash.
Teddy had to go through two surgeries to repair his jaw followed by long
recovery time after each. Teddy was also heartworm positive and then had to
endure the drawn out process of going through heartworm treatments. After
all was said and done, Teddy was in foster care for over a year but now he has
finally recovered and is a happy, healthy young playful Boston again! He has
been adopted by a gentleman who just recently retired and wants a buddy to
spend time with and go places with. Since Teddy loves attention, car rides, and
being a lap dog, this is right up his alley. Teddy is now happy to call Pride,
Louisiana his new home! We're sure Teddy will be very happy in his new
home but will always be grateful to his foster mom in Vicksburg, MS who so
patiently and lovingly nursde him back to health and gave him a second chance
to live a happy, pampered life as a cherished pet rather than roaming the
streets as a tired, injured, hungry stray.
Dodger was found as a stray and taken to a vet's
office in Ashland, Alabama. No one ever claimed
Dodger so he came to MBTR to recover and find a
new home. Dodger was suffering from an infection
on his feet and legs but it quickly cleared up with
antibiotics. Once feeling better, sweet Dodger
began to thrive, gain weight, and become more
energetic and playful. This very handsome, well
built, beautifully marked Boston is have all grown
quite attached to him. And even though we'll miss
him, we are so happy that he's found an absolutely
wonderful forever home in Brandon, Mississippi!
He now resides with his new mom and her
roommate, both of whom seem so very kind, patient,
and willing to give Dodger the kind of home he's
always wished for. His new mom said she wanted a
pup who liked to cuddle on the couch. Dodger is
definitely the guy for the job! He's an expert at
snuggling. There's one thing very special about our
little Dodger...he's deaf. These ladies don't care.
They are willing to love him just as he is. You're a
lucky pup, Dodger! We wish our handsome boy
nothing but happiness in his new home.
Lovely little Maggie Marie was living a happy life in her
Louisiana home until her elderly owner had to go into a
nursing home and her children could not keep Maggie.
They contacted a local vet's office to surrender Maggie
and just as luck would have it, one of the Animal Control
workers was bringing another dog to MBTR the very next
day. They called and asked if we'd also take Maggie and
of course we took her! Who could say "no" to a face like
that! Maggie stayed only a short time in foster care
before a very kind couple from Byram, Mississippi offered
her a new, forever home. There's not doubt that Maggie
will be a happy, loved little Boston. Her new parents are
experienced Boston owners and already have two
adorable BT's. Maggie will share her new home with
sister, "Lindsey" and brother, "Gunnie". Maggie was
always a kind and gentle little soul with other dogs while
she was in foster care so we think she will quickly take
right up with her new Boston brother and sister. It's very
obvious that Maggie's new parents love their doggie kids
very much and Maggie is very fortunate that these lovely
people have opened their hearts and home to another
little BT in need. We know it won't be long before she will
be spoiled rotten!!
Bit Bit is a darling little girl of about 4 months of age who was surrendered by her owner when she was
no longer able to care for her due to medical reasons. Her former owner had been very attentive to Bit
Bit, had spent lots of time with her, and obviously loved her very much. She was one of the smartest
pups we've ever seen for such a little thing. Even at this very early age, she was already crate trained
and would wait to go outside to potty and she never chewed anything but her toys. Even though her
foster family preferred adult dogs, Bit Bit worked her charm on them and showed them just how
exceptionally well behaved she was. Pups her age are just too young to have good house manners but
she seems to be one of those "one in a million" babies that was wise beyond her age!! Her foster family
decided that they must make her a permanent member of their family and adopted her! We look forward
to watching her grow into a beautiful Boston lady!!
Roxie, who was allowed to roam outside unattende,d soon
found herself in the "family way" with no idea who the
father was. Her caretaker realized that he did not have
the time to devote to Roxie, did not want to see her go to
the shelter, and called MBTR to take her in. Roxie
ultimately lost her babies. Her little uterus ruptured and
she had to have surgery. The father was probably a larger
dog and the pups just grew too large. She went through
many weeks of recovery. During this time a wonderful
couple from Louisiana knew that Roxie was meant to be
their baby. They applied, were approved and patiently
waited for Roxie to be well enough to go to her new home.
All the time her new Mom-to-be kept tabs on her, worried
for her, and said prayers for her as only moms could do.
It was a great day when Roxie was finally able to go home
with her new parents. These are some of the nicest,
caring people we've ever met and Roxie (now Lexie Lu) is
one very blessed pup! She still has some patella issues but
they love her just the same. As the saying goes, "It's
easy to love the perfect and the lovable, but it doesn't do
much for one's soul". These wonderful people are truly
beautiful souls and we know Lexie could not have a better
home. Lexie also has a sister named Gi Gi to play with.
What more could a little Boston want? Lexie's medical
issues could have easily taken her life had she not
received help. God was definitely watching over this little
dog and then sent her two guardian angels of her very own
in the form of her new Mom and Dad.
Karlee is now the happiest girl in all of Pensacola, FL. Not only has she
found her forever home but she now lives very close to her best friend,
Jasmine, who was adopted in 2009. Karlee and Jasmine were both
surrendered from a puppymill where there were no less than 5 different
breeds being produced and dozens and dozens of dogs kept in
crowded, dirty concrete kennels. The owner was "in poor health" and
wanted to get out of the breeding business. Jasmine and Karlee were
the best of friends while in foster care and stuck together like glue.
One of the family members of the family who adopted Karlee decided
that they would also like to have a rescued Boston. They applied to
adopt Karlee and now Karlee lives only a few minutes from Jasmine and
will not doubt have frequent visits and play dates. We hope these two
girls will bring years and years of enjoyment to their families. No doubt
this family has brought love and happiness to these two Boston girls
unlike they've had the pleasure of knowing before in their lives.
We think it's say to say that Buster (formerly Bilbo)
is now well on his way to being spoiled rotten just
like his two handsome brothers! Pepper (far left)
had a talk with his mom and dad last summer and
told them he needed a new brother. Both his
parents are employed in Emergency Response
occupations so what else could they do but
"Rescue"?! They adopted Cas last summer but we
all know how Boston owner ship is....one is never
enough and two just won't do so this couple
opened their hearts up to a thrid Bosto who needed
a loving home. Now the 'brothers' (Pepper, Cas,
and Buster) are living life as pampered little
princes. What a handsome trio of Boston boys!
