How Noel came to MBTR: One of our volunteers went to a shelter in Meridian, MS to pick up another dog. She happened to see Noel (this was back in Dec. of course, thus the name) who was emaciated, heartworm positive, had a prolapsed rectum and very weak. She looked so bad that the shelter workers were not even going to try to adopt her out and was going to euthanize her. We asked if we could have her and they released her to MBTR's care.

Meet our little girl, Noel (taken in last December). She received her Christmas present when an
MBTR volunteer just happened upon her in a Meridian, MS shelter. She had been picked up as
a stray and looked so bad, and had so many issues, they were going to euthanize her as they
thought it was pointless to try to adopt her. We asked if we could have her and they relinquished
her to rescue.
Noel had a prolapsed rectum that required surgery, she had to be spayed, treated for a heavy
load of intestinal parasites, vaccinated, blood tests, and after gaining weight and receiving her 3
month pre-treatment regime of oral medications, she was treated for heartworms. She is now
taking it easy for the 6 weeks following her heartworm injections and will be ready for adoption
the first week of Aug. It will take 3-6 months for her to actually convert to negative but no more
treatment will be needed other than the regular monthly preventative that all dogs should
receive. It takes months for the dogs to convert because it takes time for the antibodies they
have built up against the heartworms to leave the bloodstream even though the actual worms
themselves have been killed. We have never had one of our dogs that was treated who did not
convert back to negative after receiving treatments but do feel free to ask additional questions if
you need more info. or talk to your vet.
Now, after many months, and thanks to our dedicated volunteers, a great vet, and people who
donated to her major medical expenses and kept her in their prayers, Noel looks like a million
bucks and is happy and healthy in her LA foster home. She turned out to be an absolute beauty
and a Boston anyone would be glad to have! This little girl is full of charm and loaded with
personality and would be a great addition to some lucky home.
Noel is house trained and crate trained. Of course since she knows how to mind her manners,
there's no need for the crate and she'd love to have some freedom in her new home. Crates are
great training tools but not meant for dogs to spend all their time in. Noel is spending much of
her time in a crate now because she must restrict her activity for 6 weeks post heartworm
injection treatments. So you know she will be ready for additional freedom when she goes to her
new home! This spunky little gal has no doubt turned into a princess and she is ready to move to
a loving home where she will be treated like a queen. She gets along well with other dogs but will
growl and make threats over food, toys, or her doggie bed if she's settled in it. She gets along
fine with the cat in her foster home and is actually submissive to the cat. You know cats!! They
don't take any nonsense, lol! Noel loves to gather up all the toys and horde them in her crate so
every now and then you must "redistribute" the toys if there are other dogs in your home. She
loves treats and she thinks that riding in the car is especially fun. She's always ready to help
you run errands or be company on a road trip! In general, she loves the royal treatment and we
know there is a Boston lover out there somewhere who is all too ready to oblige this little Black
and White sweetheart. Despite the obvious abuse and neglect she has received in her life, Noel
holds nothing but love in her little heart and just wants to be near people and be loved. We can't
think of any other little Boston that deserves it any more either!
If Noel sounds like the perfect queen to add to your castle and make your kingdom complete,
please fill out an adoption application and mention her name. She will be patiently waiting....
