Meet "Slick". Strange name but he always thought he was being 'slick' when
pulling his antics so we started calling him that and it just sort of stuck.
Isn't he just as cute as a bug's ear?! This is a very small little Boston...well,
small in structure but he is packing a few extra pounds. That doesn't interfere
at all with him being the best lap warmer you can find! Slick is a real happy
camper and loves his chicken jerky treats with a passion...thus the few extra
pounds.
This little pint size sweetheart loves being with his people. He loves to sit in
your lap and nap or either for you to hold him on his back like a baby and
scratch his tummy...while he naps of course. He occasionally plays with toys
but is usually more people or dog oriented. He wants someone to entertain
him rather than he have to entertain himself. He shares his foster home with
two other Bostons and gets along fine with them. He plays with them all the
time but it did take him a little while to warm up to them at first. He acted a bit
hesitant to approach them or interact with them but once he understood that
all was fine, he turned into a play machine!
Slick is quite a little character and unlike most of the Bostons that come to
MBTR, has spent his life being pampered and will expect the same thing in his
new home. If you have other dogs, Slick can be quite jealous and will wedge
himself between you and the other dog trying to make sure he gets more than
his share of affection. When you are petting him, he's happy. If you stop he
will nudge his nose under your hand and slide his head under it in an attempt
to get more petting. We usually indulge him. Slick would really like to have a
family that worked from home or either one family member was home most of
the day. He also wouldn't mind canine companions of similar size but no big
bruisers that could bully him. He may think he's 10 foot tall but he's just a little
guy.
This little guy loves to ride in the car and when he hears you rattle your keys
he will head to the door and wait for you to open it and he runs straight to the
car, stands and looks up until you open the door and he can jump in. His
favorite destination once he is in the car is Sonic where he usually gets a small
ice cream cone. If Sonic isn't on the agenda for the day, he's happy to just
scoot around with you running errands or a Sunday afternoon drive. He
doesn't get car sick and would also love to be your traveling companion and
keep you company on longer road trips. And if you really wanted to travel,
Slick is small enough to easily fit into an airline approved carrier and fly in
cabin with you! He's quiet and super well behaved so you'd never hear him
whimpering or barking. Note: We NEVER recommend to transport your pet
via the airline cargo as breeders do when shipping puppies. There is too
much risk, animals sometimes die, and are frequently lost! If your pet is not
small enough to travel in cabin with you and in your sight at all times, leave
them with a reputable boarding facility while you are gone. It's NOT worth the
risk!
Slick is house trained and he and his 2 Boston companions have free run of
the house when their foster parents aren't home. He has never torn up
anything or chewed anything that he shouldn't. He will however, steal a shoe
if you happen to leave them out and take it under the bed. He likes to hide his
little "treasures" under the bed so if we are missing a shoe, we know where it
can be found. The little cutie has never chewed shoes, just "collects" them
under the bed. However, the place for shoes in tucked away in the closet, not
laying out to tempt little Boston rascals so we have only ourselves to blame for
the occasional shoe theft.
He is always on guard and ready to be the first one to sound a warning when
someone comes to the door. He'll bark like a vicious beast ready to protect his
turf until said visitor enters and then he'll push to the front of the line for some
petting and ear scratches. Slick will sleep on a doggie bed but if given the
chance he'd much rather sleep in the bed with you. He loves to tunnel down
under the covers and with the nights beginning to get cooler who doesn't
need a good little Boston bed warmer.
Slick has never been around cats so we don't know how he would interact
with them. He has also lived only in homes without children. The few times
he's been around them, he didn't seem to care for them. He was nervous and
wanted to remain by his foster mom's side. Therefore, we will adopt Slick only
to a home without children residing in it or who visit often. Older children are
O.K. Slick just doesn't like to be picked up, drug around, fell on, etc...things
that can sometimes be associated with kid/dog interaction.
So here we have an adorable, small, healthy little lap Boston that just wants to
be cuddled, loved, allowed to sleep under the covers with you at night and
given plenty of treats. He gets along with other dogs who don't try to bully him
and would fit right in with one or two new canine brothers or sisters. He also
wouldn't mind being your one and only if you were a stay home mom, work
from home parent, or retired person who could devote a lot of time to him and
continue to pamper him.
If Slick sounds just like the little man of your dreams and you want an
affectionate little companion to spend your time with and if you have
exceptional Boston pampering and spoiling skills, then you could be a match!
If you are interested in making Slick a part of your family, then please do not
wait to apply. Many people like the small little Bostons....especially the
pre-spoiled ones! Slick will have his paws crossed and waiting to hear from
that special someone who will give him a forever home!
