Have you ever walked into a room and met someone who filled the space
with a certain joie de vivre and you couldn't help but be happily drawn
into their world? Well, if you have, then you know what it's like to be
around Harley. Harley has a love of life and people that is overflowing
and contagious, and now she is ready to find his forever home! Harley is a
handsome, bouncing, young Boston boy that loves everything life has to
offer. He spends his days zooming around the yard chasing squeaky toys,
going for walks and wrestling with his friend Titan who always lets him win.
This exuberant, smushie faced goof ball was surrendered by his older
owner because he did not realize the amount of energy a little Boston
puppy could have and all the exercise and play he'd need to expend that
energy. Not to worry yourself young Harley, we gotcha covered.
Harley has plenty of brains and lots of energy which would be a blast for
the right person. At only a year old he has a whole lifetime to share with
you and could easily become the dog of your heart. He would thrive in a
home with active folks who like to romp, play and get out and do things
and allow Harley to tag along. He loves to chase squeaky toys and go for
walks, weather permitting, and can chug along quite easily for a little
smooshed nose dog. He gets along great with other dogs so if a doggie
brother and/or sister come along with his forever home, Harley will be just
fine with that. Harley has never been around cats but he could probably
get along fine with them if properly introduced. Harley has not been
around children either to our knowledge but he is such a easy going, loves
everybody, let's just have some fun kind of guy that we feel confident he'd
love to have some older children to run and play with him. Smaller
children might not be the best match for Harley. He's a bouncy kind of
guy and might be a bit too exuberant for a young child.
His favorite things to do when not playing are chewing on his stuffie toys
and cuddling with his people on the couch. If other canine playmates are
around, he'll chill out with them on the floor while casually chewing on a
toy or enjoying some doggie treats.
When Harley came to us, he did not care for his crate at all. He would
bark, jump around and tee-tee in his crate. He was so full of energy and
boisterous that it was obvious that the crate was not somewhere Harley
needed to spend a lot of time. Actually, it appears that he may have spent
a lot of his time crated and that's why he dislikes it so and had so much
unreleased energy. Since coming to foster care, Harley spends his days
outside of the crate and expends all that energy by following along with his
foster mom while she does outside chores, wrestles with his canine buddies
and then chase each other at top speed across the yard. Hard play like
that makes for a tired little boy at the end of the day whose ready to have
his supper and cuddle up in his blanket so he can recharge for the next
day. He knows that this is a place to sleep, not to spend long hours
cooped up in during the day. Harley is now reluctantly crate trained. He
knows that a crate is a magical place where treats and dinner are easily
earned by trotting in. No more fussing and barking. Just a youngster who
sleeps peacefully and soundly through the night.
Now that Harley is crate trained, he ready to move on to house training.
He has a good grasp on the concept but does need some brushing up to
perfect his skills. When Harley has learned to reliably potty outside, he
wants free run of the home or at least baby gated in the laundry room or
kitchen until his new family knows that he can be trusted not to get into
mischief if left alone to his own devises. Although Harley like to act like a
silly little goof ball sometimes, he's truthfully quite smart. Mastering the
skill of pottying outside should be a breeze for him!
Harley is going to be a medium sized dog, not one of the smaller BT's.
Right now he is long legged and gangley just like most pre-teen boys. But
when he chunks up and fills out, he's going to be one handsome dude!
You can already see the gorgeous face he has, big, expressive brown eyes,
tall, straight ears and a drop dead gorgeous brindle coat.
