Video Clip of Joey
Name: "Lucky"
Gender: Male (Neutered)
Age: Approx. 3-4 years
Weight:  Approx 14 lbs.
Special Needs:  None
Crate Trained: Yes
House Trained: No
Rescue:  Found as stray and taken to shelter.  We took Lucky in because he
needed some extended Medical care and time to recuperate.
Medical:  Vetted, Up-to-date on vaccinations, Neutered, Heartworm negative
and on a monthly preventative.
Lucky came to us after a local shelter's adoption coordinator appealed to Boston
Rescue to help this little guy get a new start.  He was found as a stray and appeared to
have been scrapping for food and survival in general while out on his own.  He had a
chunk of ear missing from the left side, several scratches, bites, and scars on him as well
as a left eye that was severely ulcerated.  Upon examination it was determined that the
eye could not be saved and an enucleation (removal of the eye) was performed.  This has
not slowed him down one bit and he functions just like any other dog.   Lucky was also
neutered.  Lucky was extremely thin when he came to us and gaining some weight was
one of the goals added to his recovery agenda.  Lucky at first appeared low key and
only wanted to be carried around and held on his back like a baby.  But as this little
rascal recovered, we soon realized we had an energetic little dude on our hands!

This cutie is a lovely little, energetic companion to people, and he loves everyone he
meets.  He has really been working on his doggie socialization skills since coming to
MBTR and now gets along very well with most dogs.  He's pretty much a "ladies man"
and gets along great with the girls and most males but he doesn't appreciate direct
confrontation (who does?).  He is quite cooperative in sharing his space with other dogs
as long as they mind their manners.  Then antics of sassy, dominant males so not
impress Lucky and pushiness will not be tolerated.  He may be small, but he will defend
himself if directly confronted.  He enjoys his space when eating and prefers not to share
a bowl with other dogs.  Setting the food bowls a few feet apart is also greatly
appreciated. But if you had been starving on the streets for so long, you'd probably be
protective of your food as well.  He may give other dogs a warning growl to back off if
they try to take his food, but he'd never do the same to his people and minds his
manners perfectly if you take up his bowl.   While we believe Lucky could successfully
cohabitate with calm, submissive companions, we feel he'd also do well as an only dog.
He'd truly enjoy being your one and only and honestly, with a cutie pie like him, who
needs other dogs stealing the limelight?  And while we understand that work is necessary
for most of us in order for us to support ourselves and our Boston kids, if you work
long hours which would require you to leave Lucky crated for 10-12 hours a day, then
please look no further.  Lucky thrives on interaction and play with his people and
flourishes with plenty of exercise.  He would wither and slip into depression if restrained
and ignored for long hours every day.  We don't believe any dog should be crated for
long hours but feel it would be particularly detrimental to lively little Lucky.

Lucky is energetic and loves to run, jump and play.  He can jump up and down just like
a little jack rabbit!  Because he loves to jump and romp, a home without small children
is a must.  He will walk on a leash but could use some brushing up on the task.  He likes
to grab the leash in his mouth, trot up ahead of his person a few steps, and take them
for a walk!  This little Boston is a real character for sure.  He has a jaunty, lively little
trot and it seems as if his little feet barely touch the ground.  He always seems to be
walking on air!  His leggy, lean build and graceful little trot reminds us of a fleet footed
gazelle.  Lucky struts along beside you like he just won Best in Show at Westminster!
He seems to just ooze with an over abundance of a sheer joy of just being alive, healthy,
and loved!  A roomy, securely fenced yard would be this little guy's own personal
Heaven so that he could get lots of exercise and have plenty of room to play with his
person or chase some well thrown toys.  Apartment life isn't going to suit this little one.
He has far too much energy.  He needs someone who's going to let him have plenty of
exercise and he would be a great walking/jogging partner as long as you are mindful to
not over do it on hot days.  Lucky is one of those "fun" dogs and we believe he would
enjoy the company of older children to play with.  Lucky is quiet and well behaved in
the evenings and very content to lie quietly on his doggie bed although his favorite place
to snuggle is in his person's lap!  He likes for his foster dad to hold him on his back like
a baby and rock him in the recliner.  This little guy is extremely loving and just loves to
be petted, held, and be given lots of attention.

There are no cats at Lucky's foster home but we're going to guess he'd chase one and
relish it as great fun if given just half the chance.  So a home without cats is probably a
good idea as well.

Lucky's 'luck' has definitely changed from those days of fighting for survival on the
streets.  Now he's looking to get even luckier and find the perfect forever home. You'll
be the lucky one if you choose this lively little leprechaun to be your new best friend.
You'll have a faithful companion in Lucky as well as your very own court jester as he
always keeps us laughing with his silly antics.  You don't have to go chasing rainbows to
find your very own pot of gold.  This little treasure of a Boston can be found right here
at MBTR and he's just waiting for you to fill out this
