There are many circumstances that require people to give up their dogs:  death in the
family, relocation, personal health issues, financial hardship, etc.  If you find it
necessary to give up your Boston Terrier, please remember that there are some
choices that you can make that will insure that your pet gets the best possible chance
to go on and live the rest of his life with another family who will also love and care for
him.  Please do not take him/her to a shelter where space is extremely limited and the
dog is given a "time limit" to be adopted before it is euthanized.  Please understand
that if you take your dog to a shelter there's a good chance that he/she will never
come out.
 Consider this decision carefully.

Instead, please contact a Boston Terrier Rescue which are "no-kill" organizations and
will work hard to place your dog in the perfect forever home...a home that will be
interviewed and screened and is found to be the best possible match for your dog's
personality, activity level, etc.  Transportation assistance is available in some cases.
You will be asked to sign a Owner Surrender Form and we will ask you a few
questions about your dog before accepting him/her into rescue.  The more information
you can provide regarding your Boston, the more it will help us find a new, loving
home that will best fit his/her personality and needs.

Although surrendering your dog may be extremely difficult for you to do, it may just be
the best thing for you and your dog. You are providing your dog with a chance of a
new home. We work hard to ensure that your dog ends up in a loving, permanent
home.  We understand that this is a stressful time for you, and making the decision to
find your dog another home is a difficult one. However, we can assure you that MBTR
will work very hard to place your dog with a wonderful family that will love and care
for him for the rest of his life. Hopefully, knowing this will make the process a little
easier for you.

If you have come to the decision, or find yourself in a situation in which you must
surrender your dog, please contact Mississippi Boston Terrier Rescue via one of the
methods below and we will do our best to assist you.
